The Cliffs of Moher and Doolin Pier

It was raining and blowing a gale today, so we decided to head to the Cliffs of Moher. It really was pretty grim and we had to hang onto Bug Mad Girl and Little Brother to stop them being blown away!

Apparently they have Puffins, Fulmers, Guillemots, Razorbills, Choughs and Peregrine Falcons all nesting on the cliffs. It wasn’t the day to see anything today though!

Then we went down to Doolin Peir. There is often a dolphin swimming around the pier, but we didn’t see it today. Even if it was there, we probably wouldn’t have spotted it in the rough seas. We did see a rainbow though that ended right in front of us in the sea. We also saw a couple of Oyster Catchers.

Driving down the narrow country lanes, lined each side by Fuschia bushes covered in flowers, the Swallows were flying along just in front of the car, swooping right in front of us, keeping really low. Even walking outside, they were flying at head height, seemingly oblivious to the wind. The Rooks, on the other hand, were really struggling and kept being blown sideways and were often being pushed backwards when trying to fly forwards.
