Hunter's Moon

There was a bright orange moon, low down in the sky when I got up this morning. Very pretty!

#100DaysOfNature Day 78 - The Hunter's Moon at 7am this morning
After a bit of research, I found out that last night was the Hunter's Moon, which is the first full moon after the September Harvest Moon. It's also sometimes called the Blood Moon or Sanguine Moon, because it appears so orange.

The Hunters Moon appears in October and was so named because it was the preferred month to hunt summer-fattened deer and rabbits. Like the Harvest Moon, the Hunter's Moon is particularly bright and long in the sky, giving hunters the chance to stalk prey at night.
