Going to the river is such a lovely treat. There's something special about messing about by the water so we headed to Henley this morning. We drove through the beautiful Chiltern hills to get there and I realised (again) just how lucky we are to live in such a great part of the country. Just a few of the things we saw on the way were two partridges by the side of the road, a hare running through a field, woods carpeted with bluebells and an amazing field covered in cowslips.
When we got to the river we found the cutest little goslings...

... as well as some very noisy ducks and swans.

We watched the boats and climbed some trees, then the kids played in the playground.

The tree of doom ... fall out and you plunge into boiling lava! |
On the way home I couldn't resist stopping to take a picture of the cowslips. I don't think I've ever seen such a big field, so completely covered in cowslips. It was a real spectacle.
It was the perfect way to spend the bank holiday.
