Silver Washed Fritillary

It was a lovely sunny day, so we went for a walk up the hill this morning. We always seem to see something new and exciting and we weren't let down today. A Silver Washed Fritillary was flying around in a sunny break in the trees. At one point there were two of them chasing each other around, but this one stayed the whole time we were there. It didn't settle very often, so I could only get a photo from underneath, which may make it more tricky to identify.

We also saw lots of Marbled Whites and two Commas.

There were bees everywhere, enjoying the sunshine and flowers.

There was lots of Rosebay Willowherb in flower (food plant for the Elephant Hawk Moths) and I thought the Bugle was very pretty.
