Feeding the Deaths Head Hawk Moth

We fed the Deaths Head last night, with a mixture of honey and water. You have to be quiet brave as they wriggle and squeak a lot, but once they've got their proboscis into the honey, they love it. The honey mixture is in a bottle top sunk into some foam. You have to use a large blunt needle to very gently uncurl their proboscis and stick it into the honey. That's the bit that makes them squeak! Once they taste the honey though, they will happily sit there for a few minutes.

Big thanks to Nanny Moth for helping us!

Here's a video of him feeding.

And here he is squeaking!

There is no sign of our escapee moth yet and the other pupae hasn't hatched yet. I'm still watching though!
