#30DaysWild day 17 - Tea up a tree

It was such a beautiful day today, that we decided to take the kids (plus one of their friends) for tea up a tree. We walked up a path under the trees, through a field, then scrabbled up a steep hill to get to our favourite tree. It's an ancient beech, which has lovely sweeping branches that are perfect for climbing. It was hard work walking up the hill in the heat, but worth it when we got there.

The best bits of the picnic (the sausage rolls, watermelon, strawberries and chocolate cake) disappeared up the tree with the kids and they sat up their eating their tea. They looked just like three chicks sitting in their nest!

After they'd had enough to eat they explored the tree, climbed even higher and 'monkeyed' around for a while

Monkeying around
We sat on the top of the hill for a few minutes and enjoyed the amazing views. Up there it really feels like you're on top of the world!

They were going to roll down the hill, but the thistles were really prickly, so they decided to run down instead!

Then we walked home, which was considerably easier going down than it had been on the way there!
