We may be in the depths of winter, but January has still been full of adventures. Some of our best bits have been:
- Discovering the magical Pyrtle Spring
- Ambling around Brush Hill, looking for signs of spring
- Getting up close and personal to a stunning great spotted woodpecker and a comical leaping squirrel at College Lake
- Being amused by the daily antics and funny personalities of our little garden birds. Our large garden birds (the red kites) have given us lots of "wow" moments too!
- Spending some time at Holtspur Bottom Butterfly Reserve and doing our small part to help with their great conservation efforts
- Taking part in the Big Garden Birdwatch, doing a count in the back garden as well as at Pulpit Hill
- Rowena Ravencrow spending some time in the garden. She turned out to be the carrion crow that was nearly a raven!
- Attending a Chiltern Society talk about the wildlife in the Chilterns and realizing just how special the Chilterns really are.
- Celebrating Nanny and Grampy Moth's golden wedding anniversary with them. Bug Mad Girl drew them a Long-tailed Kite (a cross between a Red Kite and a Long-tailed Tit) and I painted then a Goldfinch.
