Lough Derg and The Mountshannon Sea Eagles

A pair of White Tailed Sea Eagles have nested on an island on Lough Derg in Mountshannon, Ireland. They successfully raised two chicks last year and another one this year. This years chicks fledged a few weeks ago and is still seen with the parents most days. We went to see if we could see them and got a couple of great photos ...

Just joking! They are photos of the pictures on the bird hide on the lough. We didn't see any eagles at all, although somebody that was already there when we arrived said the young bird had been flying around about 30 minutes earlier. We stayed for about two hours (as much as Little Brother could handle) then gave up.

As close as we got to a Sea Eagle - outside the bird hide

The Sea Eagle's nest is on an island on Lough Derg
It was lovely at the lough - very peaceful and quiet. There were some swans and signets swimming around and lots of Pied Wagtails running around on the grass.
